A Dream Re Imagined

"From Pre-Loved to Purpose: How a Second-Hand Shop Changed My Life and Inspired My Vision"

Pre loved and cherished

In 2010, I unpacked a dream I’d been holding close for years: to own a second-hand children’s clothes and toy store. It wasn’t just a business idea—it was deeply personal. I’ve always loved old things—the stories they carry, the memories they hold. Growing up on hand-me-downs and later shopping in high-end second-hand stores as an adult, I believed everything deserved a second chance, a new life filled with purpose.

At the time, my journey to motherhood was fraught with challenges. My own childhood had felt like a fleeting chapter, one that sped by so quickly I barely had time to savor it. Part of me longed to linger in that space, to recapture the innocence, creativity, and wonder that comes so naturally to children. I’ve always been captivated by the way kids see the world—with fearless curiosity, unfiltered creativity, and a bold “give it a go” attitude (well, except for Brussels sprouts).

I also noticed something among my friends. Parents were overwhelmed by the short lifespan of their children’s clothes and toys—expensive items that quickly became outgrown but were cherished nonetheless. These items weren’t just things; they were memories, milestones, and pieces of love. Like me, they believed these items deserved another life, another chance to bring joy to a child.

At the time, second-hand apps and marketplaces hadn’t yet taken hold, so I decided to create my own space. My shop became more than a store; it was a hub for connection. It was a place where parents could meet, swap stories, and share their cherished items, knowing they would be valued by someone else. We didn’t just sell pre-loved items; we invited local mums and small businesses to showcase handmade and repurposed goods, weaving creativity and sustainability into the very fabric of our community.

Healing Through Creativity

For me, the shop wasn’t just about running a business—it was about healing. It allowed me to reconnect with the parts of my life that felt unfinished and rediscover the joy and magic of childhood. It was a creative outlet that brought purpose and meaning into my life at a time when I needed it most.

But it also taught me something bigger: creativity isn’t about making something out of nothing. It’s about reimagining what already exists, giving overlooked ideas a chance to shine, and finding beauty and possibility in the “in-between” moments.

From Second-Hand Dreams to Epiphany Central

That philosophy is what fuels my work today. Through "In Between Fantastic", I help individuals and businesses embrace the power of the “in-between”—those moments of uncertainty, transition, or pause where so much possibility lies. Whether it’s a founder exploring a new idea, a team navigating a big pivot, or someone standing at the edge of what’s next, I help them turn those moments into fertile ground for creativity and action.

At "Epiphany Central", I’ve created a platform where ideas land safely, ready to take shape and grow. Just like the pre-loved items in my shop, I believe every idea has value—even if it’s rough around the edges or waiting for its purpose to be uncovered. I guide my clients through the ideation process, blending creativity and strategy to turn sparks of inspiration into impactful realities.

What started as a second-hand shop has grown into something so much bigger: a way of seeing the world, a belief in second chances, and a commitment to helping people and businesses uncover their next step.

So, whether you’re building something new, reimagining what exists, or simply exploring the possibilities in front of you, know this: there’s magic in the in-between, and with the right space, every idea has the potential to flourish.
