As we approach the end of the year, it’s common to feel like you’re caught in an “in-between” space—unsure of where you’re heading or how to move forward. Maybe you’re stuck in a cycle of overthinking or weighed down by uncertainty about what’s next.
But what if you could spend just 15 minutes to uncover what’s holding you back and start paving a path toward clarity? That’s exactly what the PHAT Find process can do for you.
What Is the PHAT Find? The PHAT Find is a powerful tool I use to navigate life’s moments of confusion or transition. It’s simple, effective, and designed to bring awareness to your situation while helping you take the first step toward transformation.
Here’s how it works:
First grab a pen and journal (or an old envelope as thats just as good to get going)
P – Problem/Predicament Start by identifying your current challenge. What’s the issue that keeps circling in your mind? Naming the problem is the first step toward addressing it.
H – Hard Facts Next, list out the realities of your situation. What are the undeniable truths you’re facing right now? Seeing these hard facts written down can bring a sense of clarity and honesty.
A – Articulate Now, try describing the situation verbally. If you were explaining it to a friend, what would you say? Articulating the problem can often lead to unexpected insights.
T – Transform Here’s where the magic happens: Envision how you’ll feel once you’ve moved past this challenge. What’s waiting for you on the other side? Are you ready to take the time and effort to get there?
Gauge Your Motivation
After completing the PHAT Find, ask yourself this:
On a scale of 1 to 5, how motivated are you to gain clarity and take action? (1 being “not ready” and 5 being “let’s do this!”)
This step is crucial because it helps you understand whether you’re truly ready to embrace change or if you need to spend more time in reflection.
Why Now Is the Perfect TimeThe end of the year is a natural pause—a time to reflect on where you’ve been and where you’re going. By dedicating just 15 minutes to this process, you can gain the clarity and confidence needed to start the new year on the right foot.
