The Transformative Power of the “In-Between”
We don’t talk enough about the in-between moments of life—the pauses, transitions, and seasons of uncertainty. The ones that feel like you’re standing still, while everyone else seems to be moving forward.
It’s easy to think of these moments as wasted time, as something to rush through or “fix.” But what if they’re not? What if the in-between is where the magic actually happens?
I call it the In Between Fantastic—that strange, messy space where transformation begins.
My Own In-Between
For me, the in-between wasn’t something I chose. It came to me like it does for many of us—uninvited, unexpected, and uncomfortable. I had built a life that looked successful on the surface, but something wasn’t aligned. I didn’t know exactly what was wrong; I just knew something needed to change.
The uncertainty was hard. I wanted answers, clarity, movement. But what I got instead was silence. A pause. The space between what was and what would be.
It wasn’t easy, but here’s what I learned:
• The pause wasn’t empty—it was where I found the answers I needed.
• The uncertainty wasn’t wasted—it was what gave me clarity about what came next.
By sitting with the discomfort, listening to my intuition, and reconnecting with my purpose, I found my way through. Not by rushing or forcing, but by allowing the in-between to show me what I needed to see.
Why the In-Between Matters
The in-between moments are uncomfortable because they ask us to stop and look within. But this is exactly why they’re so powerful. They give us space to:
• Pause with Purpose: Instead of forcing movement, you can stop and ask, “What’s really going on here?”
• Rediscover Who You Are: When the old version of you no longer fits, the in-between is where you decide who you want to become.
• Uncover Epiphanies: The clarity you’re searching for doesn’t come when you’re rushing. It comes when you create space to let it in.
The in-between isn’t something to fear or avoid. It’s where transformation happens.
Your Turn: Reflect on Your Own In-Between
If you’re feeling stuck, uncertain, or like you’re in the middle of something you can’t quite name, take a moment to reflect. Here’s a simple exercise to get you started:
1. Pause: Take a few deep breaths and ask yourself: What feels uncertain right now? Where am I feeling “stuck”?
2. Write It Down: Describe the “in-between” moment you’re experiencing. What does it look like? How does it feel?
3. Ask Yourself: Instead of rushing through this moment, what might it be trying to teach me? What would happen if I allowed myself to pause here for a little while?
Sometimes, naming the “in-between” is all it takes to start seeing it differently.
